85 - Still Alive and Feeling Fine

Liz Noll celebrated her 85th BIRTHDAY with an all out attack on the local bakery! After purchasing eclairs, cinnamon buns, and chocolate chip cookies along with other bakery delicacies, she proceeded to feast on them throughout the day. Mrs. Noll acknowledged washing them down with bottomless cups of coffee brewed fresh as needed. The celebrant stated that she ate nothing else throughout the day, and that she was content in this both for it's delicious taste and it's sheer folly.

Liz also stated her happiness at receiving birthday greetings from, amongst many others, her 5 adult daughters. She also declared a motherly disappointment in her 4 sons who forget to call and wish her a happy birthday. When this reporter talked with her by phone the day after her 85th BIRTHDAY, while she was warming down in the local hot tub after her daily lap swim in the pool, her errant sons calls were still sheepishly trickling in.

  1. PERFECTO DAMIEN!!! LOVE IT SO MUCH! I'm going to do that on my 85th birthday too. Heck, I might do it on my 45th which is just around the corner.

  2. We all know that there are many things in life that can make us male members of our species feel bad about ourselves, but none are worse than disappointing the women in our lives. And by "women" I mean one of two women - our partners and our mothers. I'm not talking about the run-of-the-mill disappointing. I'm talking about the times when they are legitimately disappointed in us because we failed to perform simple acts of acknowledgement. Acknowledging an obvious task well-done or a thank you for something done solely out of love. In this case it was a birthday. We delay making the Happy Birthday phone call because it doesn't seem important and we really want to figure out the perfect means of recognizing the date, when in reality, the phone call itself IS the perfect gift. Why was it that the quartet of male sons disappointed and the entire sextet of females came through? Don’t ask me – I’m a guy.

    Happy Belated Birthday, Mom!
